Your Personal Information
The Voices Around The World Project is directed by Laurie Lewin, who also operates and manages the https://voicesaround.com website services.
This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you choose to work with the Voices Around the World Charity Music Projects or choose to work with any of our paid music services and the choices you have associated with that data.
What personal information we need
We only collect minimal personal information about you, which does not include any sensitive types of information or location-based information. This does, however – if you choose to register to participate in our music projects - include your named contact(s) for the project we run and the name and country of your school or organisation and the email address(es) for the named person(s) from your organisation.
Why we need your personal information
We need to know the basic information in order to help you participate fully in our Voices Around The World Project(s). We will not collect any personal data from you we do not need to provide and oversee this service.
What we do with your personal information
All the personal information we process is processed by our team in the UK. For the purposes of website hosting and storage this information is located on servers in Canada.
For the purposes of running our charity music projects each year we provide schools and youth organisations with free music resources to enable them to participate. In this context, no third party suppliers are engaged
What do we do with audio, video and photographic materials provided by schools and youth organisations
As part of our Voices Around The World annual projects schools and youth organisations send to us audio recordings, video recordings and photographs of students performing with the music tracks provided. These materials are mixed by us to produce music videos to represent a world-wide virtual choir of students from a large number of different countries. Within the organisation of Voices Around The World we maintain very strict policy guidelines that:
1) all students participating within the project recordings will do so anonymously i.e. no individual students will ever be identified
2) the recorded media submitted to Voices Around the World will be used solely within the context and confines of the Voices Around the World project
3)Voices Around The World will only ever use recorded material where full consent has been given by parents or carers to the schools or youth organisations for their children to participate in the projects.
4)While Voices Around The World requests all schools or youth organisations to confirm that permission has been granted by parents or carers for their children to participate in the projects, it is the responsibility of the schools and youth organisations to ensure that this has been fully followed through.
How long we keep your personal information
We are required under UK tax law to keep your basic personal data (name, address, contact details) for a minimum of 6 years after which time it will be destroyed. If your information is used for marketing purposes it will be kept until you notify us that you no longer wish to receive this information.
